Friendship with God

We are called to serve the body of Christ and God Himself. Although we are called to be servants of the Most High. There is a difference from serving out of obligation and out of friendship. We all want to be doers of the word and not just hearers. I hope we all want to be Christlike and be a servant as well. Jesus on the other hand, He was not like the servants of His time. He actually knew what the Father was doing. His relationship with the Father took Him to higher spiritual places that only came out of intimacy with the Father. God designed us that way so we can be in a relationship with Him. He wants to take us to higher places but it is all based on our effort to be in a relationship with Him. Jesus says I no longer call you servants but friends.

“You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”

- John 15:14-15

God wants to take us higher and give us insights of what He is going to do. He wants us to be part of the journey. It takes a friendship with God for us to be taken to higher places in the spiritual. If we continue reading the next verse we see that Jesus chose us. He was the first one to draw near and engage us in this relationship. If you are having dreams and visions about the goodness of God, most likely God is already engaging with you in a friendship relationship. He wants you to be involved in what He is doing because of Jesus you are already a friend. It is important to understand that we can still be a son/daughter, servant, friend of God. These are all part of our character.

“You did not choose Me ,But I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear good fruit,......” - John 15:16

Satan also uses temptations to elevate you. God will allow you to be tempted so He can test your character. Everytime God elevates us, our character has to be tested. God will not put us in a higher spiritual place or position if our character is not ready for it. It takes sacrifice of ourselves so we can allow God to build a Christlike character from within. When Jesus was baptized in the Holy Spirit, He was led to the wilderness to be tempted by Satan.

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” - Matthew 4:1

“Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.” - Matthew 4:8

God was going to give Jesus the highest elevation ever given and placed Him at His right hand. At the same time Satan was trying to give Jesus the highest earthly elevation he could give Him; and that was the kingdom’s of this world. With every high place we get taken to God allows us to see what He is doing. You have to move from a servant to a friend and serve Him out of relationship.

“And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,” - Genesis 18:17

You are a friend of God already through Jesus Christ. I hope this encourages you to keep dreaming and praying for visions. God wants to let you in on what He is doing
